Let me introduce myself.  My name is Glenn Smith and my wife of 27 years is Claudia.  We have two children, Miranda who is sixteen and Holden who is eleven.  My official title at Camp is Director of Camp Promotion and Marketing.  That is a long and impressive title that really means nothing more than I spread the word about Camp Witness.  My job includes presenting camp to churches, youth groups, AWANA clubs, or anyone who is willing to listen.  I contact new churches that may not be familiar with Camp Witness and I work with churches that already send campers to increase awareness and participation in camp.  My other primary duty is to assist the camp in fund raising.  This takes the form of mailings as well as one on one contact with those who may want to add Camp Witness to the ministries they support.

I set a personal goal of increasing the number of campers in 2005 by 25% -- 2005 saw record attendance with 397 campers over 316 campers the previous year.  I encouraged churches to consider Camp Witness as an evangelistic tool.  The churches that sent the most campers are often sending campers who do not attend their church.  Using camp as an extension of the youth ministries that already exist within the local church allows for solid reinforcement of the messages these children are being exposed to in AWANA, Good News Club, or other youth ministries.  If your church has a ministry like one of those mentioned, consider recruiting campers from that youth base and set a new record for the number of campers that your church is sending to camp this year.  Also consider providing financial encouragement in the form of scholarships to the campers your church is sending.  The churches that are best represented at camp often provide 50% or more of the cost of camp to assure that all can attend.  Please note:  Camp Witness is committed to making sure any camper who wants to attend can regardless of financial means.  Scholarships are available for those in need.

I am encouraged by the enthusiasm that I am seeing in the contacts I have already made this year.  I look forward to meeting many of you as I make presentations sharing the faithfulness of God to the ministry of Camp Witness.  Keep in mind; the big push for camp is always in the spring and early summer.  There are only so many Sundays and Wednesday evenings to present the ministry of camp.  Therefore, I encourage you to schedule a Camp Witness presentation in the Fall or Winter to learn about the exciting things that are being planned at camp and to beat the rush that happens in the Spring.

Please pray for openness in churches as I contact many of them for the first time.  Also pray for traveling safety.  I currently reside east of Omaha and will travel several thousand miles on behalf of the camp in just the first few months of this year.  Pray that those who are financially blessed will be challenged to support the various aspects of camp in an ongoing manner.  If you are interested in becoming a financial partner with the camp and would like to discuss opportunities available, please contact me.

In Christ,

Glenn Smith
